Inspirational, big impact stories - Can you help?

Unspun are looking for interesting stories of people or teams who have made a big impact on people lives today (i.e. technological, social/ political or economic change). 

 

For example: Pierre Omyidar had a vision to build the perfect market place - a place where there was a buyer for every seller and vice versa.  He tested his idea by trying to sell a broken laser pointer on his new website.  In theory, there would be a buyer out there who would be interested.  Astonishingly, it sold for $14.83 and eBay was born.

 

The kind of stories we are looking for:

  • Have a hero (or heroes) they focus a person or a team and how they made a difference to people's lives
  • Have some hook or detail that makes them interesting e.g. the broken laser pointer
  • Feel current and relevant today
  • Are appropriate for telling in a corporate setting.
