Inspirational, big impact stories - Can you help?

Unspun are looking for interesting stories of people or teams who have made a big impact on people lives today (i.e. technological, social/ political or economic change).

For example: Pierre Omyidar had a vision to build the perfect market place - a place where there was a buyer for every seller and vice versa. He tested his idea by trying to sell a broken laser pointer on his new website. In theory, there would be a buyer out there who would be interested. Astonishingly, it sold for $14.83 and eBay was born.

The kind of stories we are looking for:

Have a hero (or heroes) they focus a person or a team and how they made a difference to people's lives

Have some hook or detail that makes them interesting e.g. the broken laser pointer

Feel current and relevant today

Are appropriate for telling in a corporate setting.

Can you help us with this? If so, email serridge@unspunlondon.co.uk

Glasgow 2014 Handover Ceremony: Goodbye Delhi Hello Glasgow

This month, Unspun delivered a dazzling performance for the Glasgow Flag Handover Ceremony at the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi, India.
Our creative team of world class experts created an eight minute segment that brought to life the brand of Glasgow 2014 and the city's unique personality. 352 volunteers from across Scotland were selected to perform a mass-choreographed show that simultaneously celebrated participation, collaboration and cooperation, ultimately placing the proud people of Glasgow at the heart of the performance. We identified established symbols that led the audience on a journey through traditional Scotland to modern Glasgow; bagpipers, tartan kilts, the Saltire, the Clyde Auditorium and the Loch Ness Monster.
We overcame all the challenges that were thrown at the project, working across geographies and cultures and with a limited budget, to produce a strong and stylish performance that was meaningful to the home audience, entertaining to the live audience, and memorable for the global broadcast audience of 1 billion people.
The First Minister of Scotland, Alex Salmond captured the success of the show, "Scotland is already excited about hosting the Games in 2014 and the handover ceremony showed the world how spectacular this event will be by showcasing our country's spirit and our greatest asset, our people."

It seems like more and more people are getting behind the 2018 bid, even Lord Nelson is backing the bid. We helped to coordinate the filming, and through we say it ourselves, we love the photos of Nelson wearing his Back the Bid scarf against London’s dawn skyline. Makes us proud to be British.
The shots of Nelson were used to help publicise the departure of the England 2018 bid book as it made its way over to Zurich. The book finished its travels safely delivered by the world’s most glamorous postman - David Beckham. Next up are the inspection visits in August.
