It was always a dream when growing up to represent my country at a major sporting event
4th October 2010
Working on the England 2018 bid, being part of a team working for their country, was my ambition coming to reality. I can remember one late night in particular: as the sunset commenced, the lines on the football pitch began to fade, but the continuous sound of the tapping of keyboards beat on. Where better to work late into the night than overlooking the home ground of our nation's football team? Stepping out into the empty stands of Wembley Stadium in the pitch black of the night, listening to absolute stillness and imagining in previous hours to this, the roar of the crowd and adrenaline of players filling this magnificent venue...but now, just the tapping and the thoughts of the people accumulating the best this country has to offer in a four day showcase to a worldwide audience. During the visit itself we followed the media intently, behind the scenes, ecstatic at the reports coming in each morning - watching the bid we had been planning for months slowly unveil itself. This was it, all the hard work was now being put to the test. Now it's onwards to the final decision on 2nd December.
